The Best Splash Parks for Kids in the Dallas Area

Summer is here and the kids want to play outside. When it gets too hot for playgrounds and playing ball, the kids need more than just running through lawn sprinklers and playing with the backyard hose. There are plenty of splash parks that you can go to for free or with little money in Dallas and Plano to keep the kids cool, smiling, and having fun. Here are a couple to try this summer for some watery fun.

Campbell Green Park

Campbell Green is located in far north Dallas on Hillcrest and Campbell, just south of the George Bush Turnpike. Kids will have a wonderful time at this great spray ground that is connected to a park with slides, swings, and climbing structures. The spray ground provides imaginative water play with lots of visual and interactive water features. It’s open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

Lake Highlands North

Next door to the recreation center, your kids will smile as they play on this cool spray-ground with nearby seating, a shaded area, and a playground. The times are from 10 am to 8 pm. They open at 2 pm on Friday due to cleaning and maintenance.

If you are looking for more options in Dallas, Dallas Aquatics offers nearly 20 spray grounds throughout Dallas. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, you can visit these free water spray parks seven days a week. Most locations are open from 8 a.m.ā€“8 p.m., but hours vary depending on the day and location.

Plano Aquatic Center

This indoor aquatic facility has a 25-yard lap pool, play area, and fun outdoor spray ground. There is a $3 entry fee for kids 3 and up and a $5 fee for non-residents.

  • Monday through Friday
    12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday
    1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center

At this rec center, you will find three large slides, water volleyball, a play structure for toddlers, and fun water spray features. The cost is $3-$6 for ages 3-15, depending on if you are a resident, and $6-$9 for ages 16 and up.

Windhaven Meadows Park

Your children will love getting wet at this pretty splash park in Plano. Kids who like to climb will also enjoy the large rocks in the splash park. The Windhaven Meadows park is free, so bring your towels and enjoy. The 123-acre park also offers a pavilion, play areas and structures, dog park, and bike and walking trails. The best part is that itā€™s all free. It is open 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
