Upscale Martini and Tequila Lounge Finds a New Home in Downtown Dallas

Launched on Friday, December 22, 2023, the Columbian Country Club takes over the former Bar and Garden site on Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas. The club is jointly operated by Jonathan Rosenberg, Justin Kallhoff, and Brian Rutt, who are also the founders of the nearby Pan-Asian venture Alice.

The original Columbian Country Club, a historic Jewish country club that opened on Main Street in Dallas in 1891 and shut down in 2008, served as the inspiration for the brand-new New York-style martini and tequila lounge. Wallace Johnson Studio created the classic cocktail lounge, which boasts an elegant, old-world atmosphere, with elements from the original club, as well as dim lights, plush seating, and timeless décor to represent an opulent era, like New York City’s Golden Era and the allure of the martini.

There is frequently a live pianist playing while guests relax and enjoy martinis, wine, cocktails, and small plates. On Thursday through Saturday evenings, guests can hear a DJ and get moving on a vintage dance floor. Highlights for the drink menu include The Pink Lady, which consists of gin, apple, lemon, and pomegranate; an espresso martini; an apple martini; and the Columbian Margarita, which is blended with Aguasol Repo, Grand Marnier, and passionfruit caviar.

The carefully chosen menu of martinis features the best gins, tequilas, vodkas, vermouths, and bitters, offering both traditional and creative options. Every sip is a celebration of the present, a toast to the past, and a voyage through time.

For those who are hungry, the menu offers parmesan bagels, fries, cobbled eggs, chicken fries, and Nonnie’s Doozie (a turkey pastrami sandwich on marbled rye).

Hours include Monday – Wednesday 4:30 p.m. – 12 a.m., Thursday – Saturday 4:30 p.m. – 2 a.m. Enjoy live music nightly and a DJ from Thursday to Saturday evenings.
