Lil JJ’s Smokehouse, formerly known as Berry Best BBQ, has moved from North Richland Hills to a new location in Fort Worth at 9321 N. Freeway, near Alliance Town Center. The restaurant, owned by John and Brandi Berry, was rebranded in memory of their son, JJ, who passed away in 2024. Their new spot officially opened on February 20, 2025.
The menu continues to offer classic barbecue favorites like brisket, sausage, turkey, ribs, and chicken, served in sandwiches, plates, combos, or by the pound. Some of their standout dishes include loaded baked potatoes with meat, Frito pies, brisket mac and cheese, smokey dogs, and brisket-topped nachos. One of the signature items is the Lil JJ sandwich, which blends chopped meat and sausage, inspired by their late son.
All of the sides are homemade, featuring options like beans, corn, sweet potatoes, smoked mac and cheese, smoked collard greens, and their iconic and hearty baked beans. For dessert, customers can enjoy freshly made banana pudding, peach cobbler, and a selection of cakes, all prepared by Brandi Berry.
Inside the restaurant, the legacy of JJ is honored through its branding, with his image featured in the logo and photographs displayed throughout the space.
