One of Texas’ most iconic State Fair foods, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs, is giving fairgoers a little break on costs at the 2026 State Fair that begins September 25, 2026. Located at Fair Park in Dallas, the fair features Big Tex, live music, rides, exhibits, and the Big Tex Choice Awards.
Dallas-based Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs announced on August 24, 2026, on their Facebook page that every corny dog on its State Fair of Texas menu will cost less than $10 this year, continuing an 84-year tradition that began in North Texas.
Fletcher’s story dates to 1942, when brothers Neil and Carl Fletcher introduced their battered and deep-fried hot dog on a stick at the State Fair of Texas. The brothers, who had previously worked as vaudeville performers, sold their new creation for just 15 cents each. It wasn’t an immediate hit, but with time, corny dogs became hugely popular.
Fletcher’s became synonymous with the State Fair and today sells roughly 500,000 corny dogs during the Fair each year. The Dallas company has remained in the Fletcher family for generations and is now operated by family members of the original founders.
For 2026, Fletcher’s is keeping its corny dog varieties below the $10 mark. The Original Corny Dog will remain eight coupons, while the company’s new Chocolate Corny Dog, which was the winner of Best Taste – Sweet at the 2026 Big Tex Choice Awards, will cost seven coupons.

The lower-priced menu fits into a broader affordability push at the State Fair this year, with more than 200 food and beverage options priced at $10 or less, along with reductions in admission, parking, and many Midway attractions.
