Beer lovers, get ready! The 12th Annual Big Texas Beer Fest, Dallas’ original beer festival, takes place on Saturday, April 6, at the Fair Park Automobile Building. The festival boasts 90+ breweries and 450+ beers, ciders, hard seltzers, kombuchas, meads, and more.
The festival started in 2011. It was the first dedicated craft beer festival and still one of the best in Texas. Big Texas Beer Fest is well-known for exclusive and rare beers, one-offs, and unique beers you can’t find on store shelves. Since brewers never know when beers will be ready, the beer list is released about one week before the event. Grab your tickets now on the festival website, as tickets sell fast in advance.
Typically, at least 1/3 of the brewers are from Texas. Brewers from the United States and internationally are showcased at the festival.
Plenty of food will be available from food trucks or local food vendors. Participants can also listen to local music acts on the outdoor stage.
Chad and Nellie Montgomery found inspiration for the event when they visited Denver in September 2010 and attended the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). The entire region came alive with beer events as far away as 100 miles from the city. Not long after returning, they decided to bring that style of event home to Dallas.
Many beer events benefit charity, bring good people together to drink excellent beers, promote small businesses (breweries, restaurants, great bars, and more), and boost the local economy. Dallas didn’t have a similar event, but the Montgomery’s wanted to create a unique beer festival for this city.
Over 11 years, the Montgomery’s have provided more than 250,000 meals to hungry North Texans thanks to their partnership with the North Texas Food Bank. Some of the festival proceeds are donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
