One of Texas’ best-known barbecue names, Terry Black’s Barbecue, is firing up its grills and smokers in the Hill Country with its New Braunfels restaurant, which is expected to open September 15, 2026.

The opening will mark the eighth location for the growing Texas barbecue brand, which started in Austin in 2014 and has expanded its brisket-and-ribs empire across the state, including cities like Dallas, Lockhart, Waco, and Fort Worth.

Located at 1310 E. Common St. in New Braunfels, the brand-new restaurant will feature a two-story covered outdoor deck, private dining space, and a massive 1,400-square-foot pit house. For greater visibility, the smokers will be prominently displayed, giving hungry visitors a front-row look at where the magic happens.

Fans can find the same Terry Black’s staples that helped build the restaurant’s reputation, including brisket, pork ribs, sausage and other smoked meats, along with classic sides and desserts. The New Braunfels restaurant will also serve Texas craft beers, wine, and other beverages.

Siblings Christina, Mike and Mark Black founded Terry Black’s in 2014, carrying on a family connection to Texas barbecue while building a restaurant brand of their own. The Hill Country city has become an increasingly popular destination for food, tourism, and barbecue. Terry Black’s arrival adds another heavyweight to a local barbecue scene that already offers plenty of delicious barbecue.

Terry Black’s new restaurant will be extremely close to The Original Black’s Barbecue, the historic Lockhart-based barbecue business connected to the same extended family.

Once open, the restaurant is expected to operate from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Dine-in, pickup, and delivery will be available, along with catering options.
