One of the most anticipated culinary celebrations in Texas, the Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival, kicks off its 2026 Preview Week from July 20 through July 25, 2026, bringing six days of food, wine, and unique dining experiences to the heart of the Hill Country.
Preview Week sets the stage for the Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival, which takes place in mid-October and features a collection of intimate ticketed-events hosted across the city. These smaller, curated gatherings bring guests closer to the chefs, winemakers, and producers who shape the Hill Country culinary scene. Events include chef-driven dinners, wine and spirit pairings, and tasting events.
Among the featured events is The White Party, an elegant opening-night gathering on July 20, 2026, that includes a reception, live music, and a multi-course dinner at Calivence Wine Tasting Bar + Bistro. It begins with a garden reception in their stunning new outdoor space. Live music and wine spritzers will liven the reception before guests move upstairs for an intimate four-course plated dinner, where chefs weave wine storytelling through each course.
Other highlights include Cultured, a culinary-focused tasting experience, an elevated Boozy Brunch, and The Quesoff, a family-friendly competition celebrating one of Texas’ favorite comfort foods. There’s also Bangers and Brews, a beer-forward bash, hosted by Alstadt Brewery.
While the festival’s signature Grand Tasting takes place each October, Preview Week has grown into a destination event. It offers a more intimate look at the chefs, winemakers, distillers, and culinary innovators helping shape Fredericksburg’s reputation as one of Texas’ premier food and wine destinations.
Beyond the festival events, visitors can spend their days exploring Main Street’s tasting rooms, boutique shops, and historic attractions before settling in for an evening of exceptional food and wine. Fredericksburg’s blend of German heritage, Texas hospitality, and Hill Country scenery provides a backdrop unlike anywhere else in the state.
The Fredericksburg Food & Wine Festival is a nonprofit organization that celebrates and supports the region’s agricultural, culinary, and winemaking communities. The festival began in 1991 when Gillespie County was home to just one winery, the Bell Mountain Winery, founded by Bob Oberhellman. In 2024, the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce assumed stewardship of the festival. With expanded partnerships, elevated programming, and a multi-day format, the festival was reimagined as a destination culinary experience designed to support local businesses while attracting visitors from across Texas and beyond.
