A Fort Worth haunted house has claimed the top spot in the nation, just in time for Halloween. One of the country’s most terrifying Halloween attractions, the Cutting Edge Haunted House in Fort Worth, has been named the No. 1 Best Haunted House/Attraction in America in USA Today’s 2026 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, earning the top place against some of the nation’s most popular haunted destinations.
Located in Fort Worth’s historic Hell’s Half Acre district, Cutting Edge Haunted House has built a reputation for delivering heart-pounding scares, elaborate special effects, and an experience that isn’t for the faint of heart.
Unlike traditional haunted houses that send visitors through a few dark and creepy hallways or rooms before reaching the exit, Cutting Edge takes the experience to another level. The attraction is housed inside a century-old former meatpacking plant, a setting that provides a creepy backdrop for its nearly 55-minute journey through darkness, terrifying characters, and surprises.
In this sprawling, multi-story haunted attraction, visitors encounter industrial machinery, shadowy passageways, live performers, and elaborate effects, as well as an endless series of frightening scenes. The scares start immediately as you enter Cutting Edge with a gauntlet of terror greeting guests before they even make their way through the main experience.
Realistic-looking human mannequins stand on the second level and are set up throughout the entire meatpacking process until the conveyor system returns the butchered corpses to the first level.
Cutting Edge isn’t exactly new to the national spotlight. Over the years, the Fort Worth attraction has collected numerous honors, including multiple USA Today Readers’ Choice victories and recognition from America Haunts, which named it the Nation’s Scariest Haunted Attraction in 2021.
The haunted house has also earned four Guinness World Records, including titles for the World’s Largest Haunted Attraction and World’s Largest Walk-Through Haunted House. The recognition is particularly impressive considering the number of elaborate haunted attractions operating across the country during the Halloween season.
