A popular Houston restaurant, Dish Society, will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2024, and its owners recently opened an Austin location on December 21. The new Austin-based restaurant is in the Mueller neighborhood at 1900 Aldrich Street, Ste. 130.
The owner, Aaron Lyons, is a University of Texas graduate who looks forward to setting a footprint for Dish Society in his hometown of Austin. Lyons collaborated with Dish Society Chief Operating Officer Trent Patterson, who also graduated from UT and has opened 40 Chick-fil-A units across the United States. The young business owners opened Daily Gather as Dish Society’s sister restaurant and operated the two places under Five 12 Restaurant Concepts.
Dish Society, a well-known Houston outpost, is known for its mix of local ingredients and casual service. The restaurant serves Southern brunch all day, including shrimp and grits, brisket, sandwiches, grain bowls, tacos, pasta, old-fashioned desserts, and root beer floats.
Lyons focuses on supporting local businesses and adding new partnerships in the coming months. Some items on the menu come from Austin businesses, like Open Eye Chai, Buddha’s Brew Kombucha, Hold Steady Coffee, Lick Honest Ice Creams, Yellow Bird Sauce, Joe’s Microgreens, Lone Star Lettuce Growers, and the Fiesta Tortilla Factory.
The beverage menu includes cocktails, mocktails, craft beers, wine, coffee, juice, and more. Kids under 12 can even eat free on Tuesdays.

The 3,600-square-foot space will feature oversized windows and be full of natural light. The space offers seats for 80 guests inside and 80 outside, plus a walk-up window where people can grab coffee and breakfast tacos.
New hires can look forward to terrific benefits like tuition and leadership support, paid volunteer hours, exercise and wellness initiatives, and paid time off for hourly staff. The location will also host some community events.
