Dickey’s Barbecue Pit reopened on September 16, 2026, at its longtime location at 2160 N. Coit Road under new ownership, bringing slow-smoked Texas barbecue back to the Lennox Center shopping center in Richardson.
The Richardson restaurant had been part of the neighborhood since 2014, serving the local community for more than a decade. Now, new owner and operator Abdelqader Bin Tareef is taking over the pit and looking to give the restaurant a fresh start.
Dickey’s menu centers around traditional slow-smoked meats, including brisket, ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken, and sausage, along with classic barbecue sides. Diners can also choose sandwiches, wings, and baskets. Sides include mac and cheese, barbecue beans, coleslaw, potato salad, fried okra, green beans, and waffle fries.
Dickey’s also offers loaded baked potatoes topped with barbecue favorites, along with family-sized meals designed for feeding a group. Delicious desserts include chocolate chunk cookies, pecan pie, brownies, and banana pudding. For a limited time, customers can try the new Pickle Ranch Pulled Pork Sandwich as part of the new pickle ranch menu.

Dallas-based Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was founded in 1941 by Travis Dickey, a World War I veteran. What started as a local barbecue restaurant grew into an international franchise and one of Texas’s most recognizable barbecue names. The company remains family-led three generations later.
