Austin-based chef and content creator Joshua Weissman, a YouTuber known for his channel “But Better,” opened Ben & Lynn’s, his first brick-and-mortar restaurant, on September 12, 2026, at 2600 E. Cesar Chavez St. in East Austin. The new spot focuses on Texas-style fried chicken, crispy fries, and more.
Weissman built a massive online following with cooking videos that put his own spin on familiar restaurant and fast-food favorites. His popular “But Better” series, cookbooks, and social media presence have turned him into one of the internet’s most recognizable food creators.
The new restaurant’s name has a personal connection. Ben & Lynn’s is named after Weissman’s parents, whom he credits with helping inspire his interest in cooking.
Located inside a restored 1920s bungalow on East Cesar Chavez, Ben & Lynn’s centers its menu around fried chicken. The star is the B&L Classic, a fried chicken sandwich served with house-made dill pickles. Diners can take it up another notch by dunking the sandwich in YamYum, the restaurant’s sweet-and-spicy sauce.
The menu also features B&L Nuggets, fried chicken bites served with a choice of house-made dipping sauces. Options include B&L Sauce, ranch, honey mustard, and YamYum sauce.

Sides include extra-crispy fries seasoned with sea salt, along with seasonally rotating soft serve for dessert. Drinks include sodas as well as rotating selections of local beer and champagne.
Instead of millions of viewers watching him prepare food online, fans can now actually show up and order something from his kitchen. The move also brings Weissman back to the Austin restaurant scene where he worked before becoming a full-time digital creator.
