An Ohio-based ice cream chain called Handelā€™s Homemade Ice Cream has opened its doors in Arlington at 4407 Little Road #690. Handel’s is renowned for its homemade-style ice cream, a testament to its commitment to freshness and quality. Each batch is made fresh at each store, ensuring a satisfying experience for ice cream lovers.

The owners are husband-and-wife team Deric and Vanessa Sheriff, who have dedicated their time and effort to serving the community for many years. Deric is a 22-year Arlington Police officer, and Vanessa is a retired nurse and paramedic.

The Arlington shop is the couple’s first location with Handel’s, but they have previous experience in dessert franchising. In 2014, they opened a franchise location of the famous cake chain Nothing Bundt Cakes in Burleson, which they still manage. Their son also operates a Handel’s location in Southlake.

The company offers more than 100 flavors of ice creams, sorbets, and sherbets, with a minimum of 45 offered at each location. The store provides pints and small, medium, and large dishes. Customers can also get ice cream sandwiches and the popular Handel Pop, a scoop of Handelā€™s homemade ice cream covered in our rich, dark, gourmet chocolate served on a stick. Handel’s always serves four flavors: vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, and a unique flavor of the month.

Handel’s offers a tantalizing array of flavors, each one a unique delight. From the classic black cherry and butter pecan to the adventurous Monkey Business and Tin Lizzy, there’s a flavor to suit every palate.

Handelā€™s was built in 1945 when Alice Handel created a legacy of sweetness in Youngstown, Ohio. Using fresh fruit from her backyard garden and her own personal recipes, Alice lovingly made ice cream that quickly became a neighborhood favorite. This commitment to quality and tradition is at the heart of every Handel’s store, including the new one in Arlington.

The company has about 125 stores in 12 states. The Arlington store is its seventh in North Texas, and it has locations in Flower Mound, Highland Village, Little Elm, McKinney, Plano, and Southlake.
