A new restaurant offering a fusion of Mexican and Japanese street food will open on March 28, 2025, in Fort Worth. Shōgun Taqueria will blend bold flavors with tacos, ramen, and more at 1508 W. Magnolia Avenue near Southside.

This new venture mixes Mexican and Japanese cuisine and flavors. The menu will serve delicious items like Kimchi and Oaxaca cheese quesadillas, dumplings stuffed with chicken, chipotle, and ginger, and a crispy pork cutlet topped with rich, house-made mole. Customers can also order Menudo ramen, Shiitake tacos on fresh corn tortillas, and Japanese-inspired pozole (a traditional Mexican soup).

A unique aspect of the restaurant’s offerings will be a tableside parrilla experience, where meats like pork belly and short ribs are grilled on a sizzling hot stone. Plus, Shōgun Taqueria’s cocktail menu will reflect its fusion spirit, with creations like a sakura margarita, yuzu-infused mezcal with Tajín, and a hibiscus sake sangria.

Chef Islas first envisioned Shōgun Taqueria in 2021 during a collaboration with fellow Fort Worth chef Kevin Martinez, where they explored the bold fusion of Mexican and Japanese cuisines.
