Kimbal Musk, renowned chef and restaurateur, and brother to Elon Musk, has unveiled the newest location of The Kitchen in the heart of downtown Austin, within the city’s tallest skyscraper. Spanning 8,300 square feet across two levels at 400 W. 6th Street, this American bistro joins its sister restaurants in Denver, Boulder, and Chicago, bringing a fresh culinary experience to Austin’s vibrant dining scene. A grand opening will be held on Thursday, November 14, and reservations can be made on OpenTable.
The Kitchen’s launch in Austin marks the restaurant’s fourth location and first in Texas. The Kitchen specializes in a farm-to-table approach, blending American classics with a modern twist.
Head chef Michael Bertozzi’s menu is a journey through world flavors with a Texas twist. His seasonal American dishes invite diners to share and savor as they explore the vibrant cuisines of Peru, Morocco, and Japan. Locally sourced ingredients create delicious meals, from the richly marbled Akaushi beef and tender Texas-raised quail to Iberico pork, wild-caught seafood, and East Coast cold-water oysters. Each plate hints of culinary craftsmanship, creating an unforgettable dining experience.
Guests can try many delectable dishes like crab fried rice, gnocchi, tagliatelle, vegetable dishes, seafood and fish, steak, chicken, and pork chops. The desserts can’t be missed like churro doughnuts and mousse dome.
The main dining room is designed to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere, perfect for gathering, sharing, enjoying terrific food, and building memories. Upstairs, The Kitchen offers a stylish cocktail lounge and a private retreat for more intimate occasions. From lunch and dinner to a lively weekend brunch, the restaurant’s thoughtfully crafted menu spotlights top-quality ingredients, encouraging a relaxed, communal experience that feels cozy and elegant.
