A new family-owned Italian restaurant has brought a taste of Italy to Celina—inside a former gas station. Mangiamo Italian Market & Deli, opened at 203 W. Pecan St., and sits next to the Celina Area Heritage Association Museum. The new restaurant officially welcomed guests in late January.

The restaurant is the dream work of Jason Algiere and his father, Robert. Before opening Mangiamo, the duo specialized in restaurant renovation, but this marks their first venture as restaurant owners.

For the Algieres, cooking is more than just a business—it’s part of their family’s DNA and a slice of Italian heritage. Jason grew up in the kitchen. Their website traces their culinary roots back three generations. Their ancestors, originally from Acri, Italy, settled in Rhode Island, where they cultivated gardens in a true farm-to-table tradition. Now, the Algieres are bringing their family traditions and flavors to Celina.

The menu leans on old family recipes, featuring comforting Italian staples like pizza, pasta, sandwiches, meatballs, and chicken alfredo. Their pizzas, available in 12- or 16-inch sizes, come in both classic and unique flavors—prosciutto and fig, roasted mushroom, the Diavola, topped with salami, pepperoni, red onion, and Calabrian chiles. Lunchtime guests can also grab a slice for $5 to $6. Customers can also build their own pizzas.

Pasta lovers can select roasted mushroom fettuccine, herb chicken alfredo, and more. Try another popular dish like the meatball lasagna. Customers can get sandwiches as well, such as The Italian or roast turkey. Focaccias sandwiches won’t disappoint, like the Chicken Milanese and Papa’s Meatball. The large menu offers healthy salads and delicious desserts, including Italian Buttercake, Cannolis, Amaretto Cheesecake, cookies, and other yummy treats.
