Gourmet Meatball Dishes Created and Served from a School Bus in Fort Worth

Today, food trucks are hugely popular. In 2018, Kent Scroggins decided to do things a bit differently. He opened a food truck business called Oh Balls! from a red school bus where he serves gourmet meatballs and other delicious comfort food.

Oh Balls! is the first and only meatball food truck in Texas. Kent makes meatballs that are homemade with 100% beef and are gluten free and dairy free.

Why meatballs? According to the business’ website, meatballs are versatile. Kent wants to break the Spaghetti and Meatballs stigma and introduce different flavors to the public.

The idea came to mind while he hungrily waited on his car to get an oil change. He had the desire and drive to create something different other than the typical food truck. He left his stable finance job and bought the school bus food truck from another food truck owner.

For six years, the red bus gained a following in the Fort Worth food scene. Recently, Oh Balls! found a permanent space at the Martin House Brewing Company, located at 220 S Sylvania Avenue.

When a customer comes to the bus, they first pick the style of meatball they want and then the base, like creamy cauliflower, Penne pasta, sourdough roll, and more.

Customers should try the “Wax on Wax Off”—a bold meatball dish, featuring spicy mayo, crushed sweet chili Doritos, penne pasta, Asian-glazed meatballs, Sriracha, chives and lime. How about the Clucker? It comes with house made meatballs topped with buffalo sauce, homemade Ranch, Jack cheese, Parmesan cheese, and chives.

Oh Balls! serves hearty meatballs and other delicious items, like grilled cheese and PizzaBalla, from the Martin House Brewing Co. from Wednesday through Sunday. Hours are 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a free beer Friday lunch special from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday times are 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
