Rex’s Bar and Grill, a family-friendly sports bar, opened its doors on January 15 at 1505 S. University Dr., in the former Romano’s Macaroni Grill location next to Ol’ South in Fort Worth. With a cozy home-cooking-style menu, a full bar, large TVs, and a spacious patio, it’s the perfect spot for game days or casual hangouts.

This new concept is from namesake Rex Benson, owner of Fort Worth’s legendary Ol’ South Pancake House. The menu is all chef-inspired dishes, with Texas roots and in-house made. The atmosphere is elevated bar and grill. Find starters like grilled chicken quesadillas, cherry wood smoked chicken wings, Italian nachos, and more. Healthy salads are a highlight on the menu, including the cobb salad, Caesar salad, house salad, and much more. Order brick oven pizzas, like meat lovers and vegetables, or build your own. There’s juicy burgers, sandwiches, and tacos, and entrees like chicken fried steak, 12 oz. NY strip, grilled Atlantic salmon, and other delicious items. Don’t miss desserts such as chocolate cake and deep-fried s’mores.

Signature cocktails have all been curated with detail and use local vendors to create unique recipes. There is the Texas Chilton with Tito’s Vodka, fresh lemon juice, and Topo Chico, and rimmed with salt. Also, try the Colonial Cup including Texas Bourbon, apricot liqueur, Pimm’s No.1, fresh lemon juice, and ginger ale, and garnished with a strawberry and a cucumber wheel.
