Antonio Guevara and Tifany Swulius became friends when they worked together at a Dallas dive bar in East Dallas. Now, the pair opened Tejas BBQ + Tacos on Feb.4, which is to-go only, located at 1318 Peak Street in East Dallas.
In 2024, Swulius and Guevara teamed up once again to chase their dream of becoming vendors at the State Fair of Texas. Although they weren’t selected last year, their determination earned them a spot in the prestigious Big Tex Business Masterclass—a program designed to equip aspiring concessionaires with the skills needed to succeed in the competitive industry. They will continuously sharpen their approach and craft at their new location, while working towards the goal of serving customers their delicious BBQ and tacos at the fair. The to-go BBQ joint will help them push their limits to one day own a full dine-in restaurant.

Their unique menu offers brisket, sausage, red chili, a Triple D burger, Chicken Tinga tacos, and more. Enjoy yummy sides like charro beans, potato salad, and mac and cheese.
Tejas BBQ + Tacos offers a great selection of fresh-made tacos. In addition to the brisket taco, the new place offers a marinated mushrooms taco for vegetarian folks. The Chicken Tinga taco is simmered in chipotle/tomato sauce and topped with queso fresco and Oaxacan crema on the side. 90 percent of the menu is gluten-free.
The to-go only spot is open Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.
