Downtown Plano sizzles with flavor with the arrival of Patty Lou’s Smashburgers, a new fast-casual concept that recently opened, serving juicy burgers, hand-cut fries, and creamy milkshakes inside a recognizable historic building.
Located in the iconic Plano Ice House at 1000 E. 14th St., Patty Lou’s is the newest venture from Urban Family Concepts, the local hospitality group behind favorites including Urban Crust, Urban Rio Cantina & Grill, and Urban Seafood Co.
The new restaurant offers popular smashburgers, where thin beef patties are seared on a hot griddle to create crispy edges and juicy flavor. The burgers are made with Texas Wagyu from the owner’s ranch.
Diners can choose from signature smashburgers topped with American cheese and served on potato buns, as well as crispy chicken sandwiches, skin-on fries, onion rings, and hand-spun milkshakes. Beer, wine, and frozen cocktails round out the offerings, while rotating burger specials spice things up.

Patty Lou’s carries a personal story and musical legacy. The restaurant honors Patty Lou Peters, the mother of Urban Family Concepts co-founder Bonnie Shea. Patty Lou fronted Patty Lou and the Texas Sweethearts, an all-female western swing band that toured along Route 66 during the late 1940s and 1950s. Her influence is reflected throughout the restaurant with vintage décor and memorabilia, including her guitar.
Opening inside the restored Ice House connects the restaurant to Plano’s past while adding fresh energy to one of downtown’s most visited districts.
