For 75 years, Whataburger’s delicious burgers, from the classic Original to the spicy Patty Melt, always hit the spot. Now, the brand is celebrating its 75th anniversary in a unique and creative way by bringing its beloved digital fan art to life in a gallery format at South by Southwest® (SXSW®) 2025. Introducing the Whataburger Museum of Art (WMOA), a one-of-a-kind gallery experience by the fans for the fans that will be showcased at SXSW in downtown Austin, transforming brand passion into a true artistic showcase. The Whataburger Museum of Art will be open to the public and badge holders March 8 and 9 during SXSW at Austin’s Wanderlust Wine Co.

WMOA started as an online tribute to fan creativity, featuring paintings, sculptures, digital designs, and more from across Whataburger’s 16-state footprint. Whataburger Museum of Art can be found by visiting @TheWMOA on Instagram.

When plans for a physical gallery were put on hold during the pandemic, the brand launched the idea on Instagram, creating the site @TheWMOA in 2021. Artists eagerly tagged their work, turning social media into a dynamic hub of Whataburger-inspired art expression. Some real artistic skill is showcased, and orange and white fandom is shown by various artistic expressions. Now, after years of anticipation, WMOA is stepping out of the digital world, and making its long-awaited debut at Wanderlust Wine Co. (610 N. Interstate Highway 35, Austin, Texas 78701).

This limited-time exhibit features a curated selection from the 200+ original pieces in the WMOA collection, spanning digital art, murals, abstract works, and pop culture tributes—all with a signature Whataburger twist. This is an interactive experience where fans can bring their love for Whataburger to life through their creativity.

The exhibit will feature these unique areas. The Whataburger Day Dot Room will allow guests to step into a blank white restaurant interior and transform it into a vibrant masterpiece by covering it in colorful Whataburger “Day Dot” stickers. The Table Tent Mugshot Wall is a playful tribute to the beloved tradition of “collecting” Table Tents. Snap a pic and take home an exclusive Whataburger 75th Anniversary + SXSW 2025 Table Tent, available only at WMOA. The 3D Art & Digital Displays enables viewers to see a stunning mix of sculptures, digital installations, and standalone pieces that showcase the endless ways Whataburger inspires artists.

The WMOA at the SXSW exhibit is open to all on March 8-9 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, March 8, attendees can also stop by the Whataburger Food Truck on the back patio for a taste of the Limited Time Offer, the Monterey Melt.
