Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard launched in the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area with the opening of its first location in North Richland Hills on July 1, 2026. This opening has kicked off an expansion that will bring four new stores in Flower Mound, Carrollton, and Farmers Branch by the end of the year.
Located at 8900 N. Tarrant Parkway, the North Richland Hills shop is the first of four year-round, drive-thru locations planned for DFW. The company is best known for its refreshing Italian Ice, made fresh daily with real fruit, as well as its rich, creamy frozen custard and signature Gelati, which combines Italian ice and custard.
Italian ice flavors include banana, blueberry, blueberry lemonade, cantaloupe, carnival, cherry, chocolate, Cola, lemon, Pina Colada, and more. Frozen custard lovers can try banana, black raspberry, butter pecan, chocolate, cake batter, cheesecake, coffee, mint, and much more. Try the Misto Shake, which blends Italian ice and custard, or a creamy milkshake. Seasonal flavors and limited-time creations keep the menu changing throughout the year.
Each DFW location will feature a drive-thru, allowing guests to grab a frozen treat after school, on the way home from sporting events, or during a late-night dessert run. Combined with North Texas’ warm climate, the year-round model is designed to make Rita’s a popular spot.

Construction is already underway on the remaining three North Texas locations, with openings expected throughout 2026 as permitting and renovations are completed. Each store is expected to create local employment opportunities, including first-job positions for high school and college students.
Founded more than four decades ago, Rita’s has grown from an East Coast favorite into a national brand with more than 600 locations.
