Lewisville’s Historic District Lands an Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Shop

Old Town Lewisville just got sweeter. The historic district is now home to Gilmore’s Scoops, an old-fashioned ice cream shop serving up cones, floats, and sundaes.

The shop, located at 191 Main St., was brought to life by former teacher Tanya Gilmore who is married to Lewisville’s mayor, TJ Gilmore. The shop is conveniently located near the Grand Theater, Wayne Ferguson Plaza, City Hall, and plenty of local restaurants, as well as the DART Old Town station less than a mile away.

For Tanya, the idea of opening an ice cream shop stems to wonderful childhood memories in New England. Instead of making her own, she teamed up with Beth Marie’s Old-Fashioned Ice Cream in Denton, a local legend that she and her family have adored for years.

That means Lewisville locals can now skip the drive and dive straight into Beth Marie’s famous flavors. The menu features 16 daily staples, including vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, rocky road, cinnamon, and more, along with seasonal specialties like Campfire S’mores, Apple Pie, Trick or Treat, Granny’s Pumpkin Pie, and Horchata Sorbet.

Prices are just as sweet with scoops ranging from $3 to $8, with options from junior to double. Try a flight of four flavors for $10. The shop also serves milkshakes, sundaes, and classic Coke or root beer floats.

Inspired by a high school trip to France, Tanya styled the shop art nouveau style with pressed-tin copper ceilings, elegant wall sconces, and angled chandeliers.

For Tanya, the goal is bigger than just scoops. It’s about bringing the finest quality ice cream to bridge a local community.
