Just be careful, you might blue yourself.

The Texas Blueberry Festival is the best festival for blueberry lovers in the Lone Star State and it’s only a couple of weeks away.

June 10, 2023, begins the celebration of the blueberry harvest. As the only state-sanctioned blueberry festival in Texas, this annual event attracts almost 20,000 people to downtown Nacogdoches on the second Saturday in June.

The 33rd Annual Texas Blueberry Festival is presented by Tipton Ford and produced by the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce in historic downtown Nacogdoches. The Running of the Blueberries starts at 7:30 a.m. on June 10 at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., followed by a fresh blueberry pancake breakfast served near the historic square.

Starting at 8 a.m., visitors can enjoy entertainment, arts and craft vendors, tasty treats, blueberry picking, shows and activities.

Fun activities for blueberry lovers of all ages include a bounce park, make-and-take arts and crafts, a pet parade, ā€œThe Big Blueā€ mural painting, Blueberry Hill Soda & Sweet Shoppe, pie eating contests, washer board tournament, and food and arts vendors.

Plus, if shopping is your thing, downtown merchants and local businesses will offer sweet specials inspired by the festival.

There will be more blueberry-inspired fun and entertainment after the festival closes at 4 p.m. Many of the activities are free.

If you are looking for a little competition, there will be competitions for all ages. For those who love to cook can submit their best recipes and delicious treats to compete in blueberry pie and blueberry cupcake contests.

Blueberry pickers can catch free shuttles to tour and pick their own blueberries off the bushes at nearby farms.

Go for the celebration, the weekend, or even stay for the week and fill your calendar with a variety of activities.
