Torchy’s Tacos, an Austin-based taco chain, is celebrating its 18th anniversary by revamping some menu items across all 126 locations nationwide, starting August 28. Customers will see new menu items and some items will no longer be available.
The menu items that the taco chain has retired include the jalapeño cheddar sausage, The Republican, the No. 4 Breakfast Taco, and the Secret Menu’s Ace of Spades. The Lil’ Nookies, which are fried chocolate cookie dough topped with powdered sugar, won’t be on the restaurant’s menu. Vegan tacos lovers won’t find the The MoFaux taco anymore, but new options will appear on the menu. Customers should know that retired menu items may re-emerge one day again.
New items and some that will stay on the menu include The Democrat taco and fan favorite, The Cougar, which has officially become the new Republican. The Hogfather, formerly a limited menu offering, now has a permanent spot on the menu. The newest vegan option is the new Fo Sho taco with fresh avocado, rice, refried pinto beans, grilled onions, all wrapped up on a corn tortilla.
The newest addition includes The Threesome, an award-winning green chile queso with guacamole and salsa. Try the Damn Good Tots with lots of yummy queso and bacon, which replace the homestyle potatoes in the breakfast tacos. A popular menu item, the breakfast burritos, will be available on the all-day breakfast menu at every Torchy’s nationwide.

For the first time since Torchy’s Tacos was only a food trailer in Austin, the chain is bringing back another fan favorite to celebrate its anniversary. Hungry customers can try the Make-Your-Own-Damn Taco plates. Choose from juicy chicken, tender beef, or a combo of both. Served with rice, beans, guac, pico de gallo, fajita veggies, mixed cheese, shredded lettuce, sour cream, and a side of Roja salsa. Plus, choose flour or corn tortillas.
