The owners of The Ivy Tavern opened a new Greek restaurant on April 30, 2024 on Lover’s Lane in Dallas. If you are craving Greek food, this is the spot to try, which is inspired by owners Lisa and Tom Georgalis’ trips to Greece to visit family and the authentic Greek cuisine and family recipes passed down from generations.
The debut spring menu has starters such the Georgalis family’s avgolemono soup and Pefti Kreatopita (falling meat pie), which blends premium pasture-raised beef and lamb with leeks, Greek olives, fresh dill, feta crumble, and skordalia foam. Customers may also like the farm and harvest board with the chef’s pairing of artisanal charcuterie and cheeses, served with a seasonal house jams and traditional Greek spreads, pickled vegetable, and stoneground sumac mustard, accompanied with a selection of breads and lavosh.
Among the standout dishes are the saffron scallops with charred kale, lemon fondant, saffron beurre blanc, feta streusel, and roasted Florina or the Kotopoulo Stifado, braised chicken with pearl onions, roasted Florina, marble potatoes, and prasorizo rice. How about the Moussaka Georgalis, a family recipe of classic moussaka with Texas-raised beef and roasted onion crisp?
Dessert lovers will enjoy these great selections. Portokalopita includes orange custard cake, candied citrus, spearmint, and olive oil or Trigonas with semolina custard, whipped Greek
honey, and frappe dust. Maybe try the Lavender Mousse with chocolate lavender mousse and sea salt.
Nikki’s executive chef is Grand Prairie native Blake Andress, a Dallas College graduate who also has worked in kitchens at Mr. Charles and at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek.
