After building a loyal following as a pop-up, Roya chose Austin as a landing spot. Beginning February 11, 2026, Roya will open its first permanent location at 7858 Shoal Creek Blvd., introducing an elevated take on traditional Persian cuisine to the city’s dining scene.
Roya is led by chef and restaurateur Amir Hajimaleki, a familiar name to Austinites through concepts like District Kitchen + Cocktails and Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar. Roya represents Hajimaleki’s most upscale concept to date, leaning more into the intimate, polished atmosphere found at his cocktail bar, Daisy Lounge.
At Roya, guests can expect Persian dishes inspired by Hajimaleki’s family recipes, thoughtfully prepared with locally sourced ingredients. The menu is designed to honor tradition while reflecting Austin’s seasonal bounty, creating a dining experience that feels both rooted and contemporary.
Customers can savor dishes like Wild Mushroom Borani, layered with garlic labneh and black garlic chili oil, or Mahiche Gheymeh with saffron-tomato-braised lamb shank. Other crowd-pleasers include the Wagyu Chenjeh Kabob with Australian wagyu and fenugreek seasoning and tarragon chimichurri or the colossal wild shrimp kabob.

Guests can enjoy the Sofreh Experience, a special multi-course dinner in which chefs guide the table through a personalized Persian spread inspired by authentic Persian cuisine and hospitality.
Desserts are crafted by pastry chef Dennis Van, a Sugar Rush winner and longtime collaborator of Hajimaleki, who joins the project as a culinary partner.
Roya will open for dinner service with hours from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m.–11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m.–9 p.m. on Sundays. Lunch and brunch services are planned for later months.
