Sushi lovers can head to Dallas’ Design District to get their sushi fix at a new spot called Shodo. The brand-new Japanese concept, which opened on December 19, serves fresh sushi, with an omakase room next door. The Dallas restaurant is located at 1628 Oak Lawn Avenue, #110. Route 62 Hospitality (PakPao and El Bolero) owns the restaurant.
The restaurant boasts a private omakase room decorated with a Zen and Buddha motif, bathroom artwork, and a large snow monkey mural that pays tribute to the Tokyo town of Jigokudani. These are just a few ancient cultural references throughout the 4,000-square-foot interior design. There are 60 seats available in the main dining room, 20 at the bar, 10 at the sushi bar, 12 in the omakase room, and 40 in the private dining room. In the seclusion of private rooms, guests can have unique coursed dinners in the omakase room.
Guests can order delicious and creative dishes like Wagyu Beef Tataki Sashimi with seared A5 Tataki, Mango Madai Crudo with yellowtail, a tuna tower, Shodo roll with lobster, A5 Wagyu and truffle scallion, or the Inari, a traditional sushi with sushi rice stuffed inside deep-fried tofu pockets. This is just a sampling, there’s more.
For beverages, guests can sense the Japanese flavor from unique ingredients. The restaurant serves cocktails like the Geisha Martini, made with Haku vodka, yuzu, and Lilet Blanc, or the Myoga Old Fashioned with Toki Whiskey, bitters, ginger, and orange. Or how about the Cherry Blossom, a mix of Grey Goose Cherry Noir vodka, dry vermouth, and cherry?
Restaurant goers can also find a large selection of sake and Japanese whiskey and a regular wine list.
