After being gone for nearly five years, the Oak Lawn staple, Cosmic Café, officially opens on March 30, 2026, resuming where it left off when it closed, with the same intentional, welcoming spirit and vegetarian menu.
When Cosmic Café shut down in October 2021, the space shifted into yoga and meditation. The food disappeared and beloved customers. Now it’s back in the same building in Oak Lawn, with the same spirit, and, importantly, the former head chef, Deepak Chalise, is involved in bringing it back to life.
Cosmic Café is sticking close to what made it matter in the first place, with a menu of vegetarian, Indian-influenced comfort food, including familiar staples like lentil dishes, curries, and samosas. Customers will find items like aloo takki, paneer pakora, dahl, and Buddha’s Delight. A Taco Trinity, spinach enchiladas, and a Cosmic Stir add a new variety to the offerings at Cosmic Café.

Hours are set to run late enough to keep that old rhythm alive, too, from lunch into dinner, into long conversations. Cosmic Café was one of the few places in Dallas where guests could sit for hours without feeling like they were overstaying their welcome.
