Big holiday spirit and energy ignited in Dallas, and one Preston Hollow mansion has taken holiday decorating to another level.
A nearly 9,000-square-foot estate on Deloache Avenue has once again transformed into a full-blown holiday extravaganza, complete with towering Grinch figures, glowing arches, animated displays, and enough lights to illuminate a small town. The home’s extraordinary holiday decor has created tons of amazement and a perpetual traffic jam.
Cars have been crawling through the neighborhood nightly as families inch forward for a glimpse of the over-the-top Grinch-themed setup and inflatables. The home’s decorations for Christmas and Halloween have become an annual tradition, and perhaps a gridlock with twinkling lights.
Last year, the display drew such massive crowds that Dallas police were forced to step in for traffic control. The police presence helped ease congestion, but it wasn’t cheap. According to city reports, officers had to spend an entire week around Christmas directing cars, costing taxpayers roughly $25,000.
During Halloween this year, the mansion turned into a spooky spectacle bursting with decor that was so elaborate that it caused a parade of slow-moving vehicles and selfie-taking pedestrians. Neighbors once again witnessed the familiar glow of brake lights lining the street.
Love it or loathe it, this two-story Preston Hollow mansion has become a full-blown holiday phenomenon, one bright enough to draw hundreds nightly and become viral on social media. As families line up once again to see Dallas’ most spectacular seasonal spectacle, the Grinch on Deloache Avenue continues to prove that even in one of the city’s quietest neighborhoods, the Christmas spirit can be grandiose and extremely bright. Acceptable or not, the crowds will keep coming.
