A new taco spot, Barrio Tacos, opened in McKinney along West University Drive, serving customizable tacos and tequila-based drinks.
The taco restaurant officially celebrated its grand opening on March 5, 2026, with an event that began at 3 p.m. The celebration included giveaways for guests who attended the opening festivities.
Barrio Tacos focuses on build-your-own tacos, allowing diners to fully customize their meals. Customers can choose from a variety of proteins, toppings, salsa, sauces, and taco shells to create their preferred combinations. Protein options include barbacoa beef, blackened cod, cola marinated steak, chorizo, and more. From salsa verde to corn salsa, and from sauces like avocado ranch and chipotle honey bbq, there is something to meet any taste.
In addition to tacos, the restaurant offers a selection of shareable appetizers and dips. Options include queso, guacamole, and salsa, all served with chips, providing guests with classic starters to enjoy before their meals or alongside their tacos.

The drink menu also features tequila-based beverages, including margaritas, offering guests a selection of cocktails to pair with their food. Try the Coco Loco with Cabo Wabo Blanco, Orange Liqueur, agave nectar, lime, coconut water, and ginger sugar rim, or sip on the blackberry Bourbon lemonade.
With its mix of customizable tacos, traditional dips, and margaritas, Barrio Tacos aims to provide a casual and delicious dining option along the busy West University Drive corridor.
