Cheers Times Two: Winery & Brewery Open in Johnson City in a Shared Space

A brand-new destination featuring both a winery and tasting room and a brewery will open on May 3, 2025, in Johnson City, just 50 miles west of Austin. Nestled at 6212 W. U.S. Highway 290, Charleston Taylor Estate Winery and Black Chapel Brewing Co. are housed in a combined space that promises to be a unique and exciting culinary experience.

According to the winery’s website, Charleston Taylor Estate Winery specializes in luxury red wines and sparkling wine, as well as limited rose wine. The wine comes from 100% Texas-grown grapes.

The winery’s website mentions that the winery was years in the making. The land for the winery was found in 2021—a hidden gem just off Highway 290. In 2022, the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted, and in 2024, the team harvested their first grapes. In the future, the winery will expand the vineyard with Sangiovese, showing a true passion for Italian wines and food pairings.

Guests can experience tailored wine tastings, guided tours, and even personalized wine-blending sessions. Charleston Taylor Estate Winery will also offer an Italian cooking class and a personalized wine blending session.

In addition to the winery, the Black Chapel Brewery is also opening on May 3 nearby the winery to bring together over 15 years of craft beer and pizza-making excellence.

Nestled on a stunning 30-acre winery property, Black Chapel Brewery features award-winning craft beers to the best pizza in the Hill Country. Customers can sip a cold brew in the spacious indoor taproom filled with games and big screens or soak up the sun in the outdoor spaces.

Winery hours are Thursdays through Mondays from 11 am to 5 pm, and Tuesdays and Wednesdays by appointment.

Brewery hours are Thursdays and Mondays from 11 am to 8 pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 am to 9 pm.
