Norman’s Japanese Grill, the latest concept from the Duro Hospitality group (known for Mister Charles and El Carlos Elegante), officially opened on August 1. Located in the former Homewood space at 4002 Oak Lawn Avenue, this new restaurant promises a bold fusion, offering a Western-inspired Japanese raw bar and grill that blends Duro’s signature flair with the tradition of Japanese cuisine.
Norman’s Japanese Grill isn’t your typical sushi spot. The creative menu features elevated robata grill offerings, freshly sliced sashimi preparations, handrolls, nigiri, and bold flavor pairings that bridge East and West.
For starters, try the Edamame Hummus, featuring edamame with fresh jalapeño served with wonton chips that are dusted with shichimi togarashi or a Japanese spice blend of chili pepper, sesame seeds, orange peel, poppy seeds, ginger, and nori seaweed. Other key dishes are cold-smoked hamachi, udon carbonara, Korean fried chicken, grilled A5 Wagyu, and dry-aged cowboy rib-eye.

At the center of the restaurant is an open kitchen that unites two bold cooking traditions, an Argentinian-style wood-fired grill and a classic Japanese charcoal robata. An expertly curated sake list, along with Japanese whiskey and seasonal cocktails, rounds out the experience.
Reservations are expected to fill up fast, especially with buzz already spreading across the Dallas dining scene. Norman’s Japanese Grill will be open for dinner from 4 pm to 10 pm and 11 pm on weekends. To make a reservation, please visit OpenTable.
