Dallas’ Design District is the new home to a bold Chinese fine dining destination named the Night Rooster, which opens at the end of January, adding a fresh spark to the city’s continuously growing dining scene.
Night Rooster joins Hooper Hospitality Concepts’ Saint-inspired lineup as a project that is more than 20 years in the making, born from ongoing conversations between restaurateur Andy Hooper and Beijing-born chef Shirley Chung, whose national profile includes Top Chef and Food Network’s Tournament of Champions.
For Chung, the opening marks more than a professional milestone. After facing and overcoming a serious health battle in recent years, she’s returning to the kitchen with renewed focus and creativity. Her influence is woven throughout the menu, which blends traditional Chinese inspiration with unexpected twists inspired by Texas.
Diners can expect elevated Chinese cuisine from inventive dumplings and shareable plates to noodle dishes that bridge cultures. The kitchen blends Chinese tradition with Texas swagger, serving everything from tea-smoked duck to citrusy orange quail to creative potstickers packed with cheeseburger-style fillings.
The beverage program follows the same philosophy, pairing Asian influences with local Texas ingredients to create cocktails that complement the menu without stealing the spotlight.
