After starting out as a small gas station in Lake Jackson, TX in 1982 Buc-ee’s have started to expand across the country. The first large Buc-ee’s travel center was built in Luling, TX in 2001. That means from 1982 to 2001 Texans were deprived of the monolithic gas stations that we now adore. Since 2001 however the chain has exploded to a total of 40 locations. Buc-ee’s meshes standard gas station fare like snacks and drinks with their own line of snacks made on site, cooked food, super clean bathrooms, clothing, home decor, and even barbecue grills. The combination has proven extremely popular with Texans, truckers, and Americans across the South and Southeast making Buc-ee’s and their adorable beaver one of the most recognizable sites in Texas.
