Wyl Lima, who came from Sister on Greenville Avenue, and Kimberly O’Neal, who operates the Sister and has 20 years of hospitality experience, launched a 5,800-square-foot, Southern-American restaurant and bar space called The Charlotte on Henderson Avenue. The new American restaurant opened on September 30 and guests can arrive every day at 11 a.m. when the doors open. While the weather is nice, customers can enjoy lunch or dinner on the rooftop lounge.
It serves meals with a Southern influence, but with a global emphasis. Guests will find items like Biryani-spiced wings, jollof rice, a wagyu hotdog, piri piri chicken, creole okra, and a whole branzino. The Charlotte Smashburger is the restaurant’s take on an American classic, served with caramelized onion, pickles, and jerk aioli. How about the distinctive Spaghetti & Catfish — a Southern twist on spaghetti with meat sauce and a crispy catfish filet?
The Culinary Director, Chef Wyl Lima, will lead the kitchen with nearly two decades of experience, including four years as Chef de Cuisine at Temporis in Chicago and serving as Executive Chef at Sister in Dallas. Lima is known for his innovative and approachable style. His goal is to deliver food that is both exciting and flawlessly executed, while remaining inviting and accessible to all guests.
